Our History

The congregation had its earliest beginnings in 1921 when Evangelist Ernest Benn held tent meetings in the area. The resulting new Christians held services in various places including the home of Mr. & Mrs. Fair; the Reilly farm near St George's Lake and the Andrew Whan farm on the Tryon Road.

In 1925, the first Church board was formed, headed by Mrs. Fair. Plans were made to join the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada from which they hoped to obtain a full time Pastor.

In 1926, under the leadership of their young Pastor, George Griffin, and with the assistance of local carpenters William Loucks and Eber Kirkham, the building was completed began. The Pastor's living quarters consisted of a small room at each side of the platform.

In the early 1930's with the financial assistance of Mrs. William Makin and the services of carpenters James and Eber Kirkham, the original parsonage was constructed using material salvaged from an old school, and a lodge hall.

Throughout the years, several additions and modifications have been made to the original building to accommodate its congregations. These include the addition of Prayer and Sunday School rooms on the rear of the building, the purchase of the neighbouring Bonner property providing a larger parsonage, parking facilities, the use of the original Parsonage as Sunday School rooms, enlargement of the main auditorium and construction of a foyer and nursery facility.

Several years ago, a 5.5-acre property was purchased just outside the village for possible future expansions.
